  • Check Engine Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Check Engine Light

The yellow Check Engine warning lamp indicates a malfunction in the engine, exhaust system, or fuel system. The emission limit values may be exceeded and the engine may be in emergency mode. Have your vehicle checked by a qualified technician as soon as possible.

  • Brake System Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Brake System Light

The red brake system warning lamp indicates a malfunction in brake force boosting or insufficient brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir.

In the event of malfunctioning brake force boosting, increased brake pedal force may be necessary for braking. Braking characteristics may be impaired, and braking distance can increase in emergency braking situations. If brake fluid level is too low, the braking effect and braking characteristics may be impaired. Pull over and stop in a safe location as soon as possible and do not continue driving. Observe the messages on the multifunction display (if applicable), and consult our service department or the nearest qualified service center. Do not add brake fluid.

  • ABS Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • ABS Light

The yellow ABS warning lamp indicates ABS is malfunctioning. An additional warning tone indicates EBD is malfunctioning. Other driving systems and driving safety systems may also malfunction. Malfunctioning ABS or EBD may result in wheels locking when braking, severely impairing steering and braking capability. Continue driving carefully, observe the messages on the multifunction display, and have the brake system checked immediately at the nearest qualified service center.

  • Park Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Park Light

The red electric parking brake indicator lamp flashes or is lit. The yellow indicator lamp is also lit if the electric parking brake malfunctions. Observe the messages on the multifunction display.

  • ESP Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • ESP Light

The yellow ESP warning lamp flashing indicates at least one wheel and tire assembly has reached its traction limit. Adjust your driving to suit the road and weather conditions. ESP is malfunctioning when the yellow ESP warning lamp is solidly lit. Other driving systems and driving safety systems may also malfunction. In the event of malfunction, continue driving carefully and have ESP checked at a qualified service center.

  • ESP OFF Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • ESP OFF Light

The yellow ESP OFF warning lamp indicates ESP is deactivated. If ESP cannot be activated, it is malfunctioning. Continue driving carefully and have ESP checked at a qualified service center.

  • Restraint System Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Restraint System Light

The red restraint system warning light indicates the restraint system is faulty. If the restraint system malfunctions, system components may be triggered unintentionally or not be triggered at all in the event of an accident. Continue driving carefully, observe the message on the multifunction display, and have the restraint system checked and repaired as soon as possible at a qualified service center.

  • Seat Belt Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Seat Belt Light

The red seat belt warning lamp will light up for six seconds after the engine starts. Additionally, a warning tone may sound. If you have placed objects on the front passenger seat, the light may remain lit. If the seat belt warning lamp flashes and an intermittent warning tone sounds, the driver or front passenger has not fastened their seat belt while the vehicle is in motion. Fasten your seat belt(s) and/or remove objects from the front passenger seat.

AIRMATIC Light

The yellow AIRMATIC warning lamp indicates AIRMATIC is malfunctioning. Observe the messages on the multifunction display.

DYNAMIC BODY CONTROL Light

The yellow DYNAMIC BODY CONTROL warning lamp indicates DYNAMIC BODY CONTROL is malfunctioning. Observe the messages on the multifunction display.

  • Distance Warning Function Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Distance Warning Function Light

The red distance warning lamp indicates the distance to the vehicle in front is too small for the speed selected. If there is an additional warning tone, you are approaching an obstacle at too high a speed. Prepare to brake immediately and increase the distance.

  • Fuel Reserve Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Fuel Reserve Light

When the yellow fuel reserve lights up while driving, there has been pressure loss in the fuel system. Close the fuel filler cap. If the cap has already been closed correctly, visit a qualified service center. If the fuel reserve light is lit while the engine is running, the fuel supply has dropped into the reserve range. Refuel.

  • Coolant Warning Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Coolant Warning Light

A lit red coolant warning lamp may be triggered by:

    • Malfunctioning temperature sensor
    • Low coolant level
    • Obstructed air supply to the radiator
    • Faulty radiator fan

If there is an additional warning tone, the coolant temperature has exceeded the maximum permissible temperature. Pull over and stop the vehicle safely and turn off the engine. Do not continue driving under any circumstances. Observe the messages on the multifunction display. Before opening the hood, allow the engine to cool down. In the event of an engine fire, keep the hood closed and call the fire department.

If the coolant temperature display is at the lower end of the temperature scale, consult a qualified service center or exit your vehicle and keep a safe distance until the engine has cooled down. Check the coolant level, make sure the air supply to the radiator is not obstructed, and drive to the nearest qualified service center, making sure the coolant temperature display remains below the red area.

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System Light

The yellow tire pressure monitoring system warning lamp (pressure loss/malfunction) is lit, indicating loss of pressure in at least one of the tires. Low tire pressure can result in burst tires, excessive tire wear, and impaired steering and braking. These could cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so. Observe the recommended tire pressure and adjust as necessary.

When the yellow tire pressure monitoring system warning lamp (pressure loss/malfunction) flashes for approximately one minute and then remains lit, the tire pressure monitoring system is defective. This prevents the system from issuing warnings if there is pressure loss in one or more of the tires. Have the tire pressure monitoring system checked at a qualified service center.

  • Power Steering System Warning Light | Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse in Fayetteville NY
  • Power Steering System Warning Light

The red power steering system warning lamp indicates the power-assisted steering or the steering itself is malfunctioning. Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible. Do not continue driving under any circumstances. Observe the messages on the multifunction display and consult a qualified service center.
